Overnight flight then straight into a day of work, but I did sneak in half an hour of birds around dusk. A nice round ten new birds, which only makes me very excited to go out in the morning!
Southern lapwing (pic) was on the motorway hard shoulder and lakeside by the hotel;
Campo Flicker ( a pair) were foraging on the grass at a road junction;
Crested Caracara (pic below) flying around and by the roadside too. Other new birds: Neotropic Cormorant; Cocoi Heron; Roseate Spoonbill; Black-bellied Whistling Duck; Bananaquit (pic above); Rufous Hornero; Chalk-browed Mockingbird. Oh and I nearly tripped over a capybara (a rodent the size of a calf) and almost had a heart attack.
