Pagham Harbour

Final bird outing of the UK trip this summer was a full day to Pagham and Selsey area. Stopping at the visitors centre first to see what had been spotted in the last few days, we went to the hide where we saw Black-tailed Godwit (above right) and Curlew Sandpipers, as well as Dunlin, Ruff, Green Sandpiper and Shelducks. Movin on around the salt flats towards Pagham, we saw Curlews (above left), a Whimbrel (Bird No. 350) and a Grey Plover (below left) on the way back. Then on a cut-through back to the visitor centre, we saw a Whinchat and a Sparrowhawk. We went out to Selsey Bill for a sandiwch and a sea-watch, but only turned up Wheatears and Turnstones (below right) on the beach and it was howling a gale. Then we gave up and headed to Church Norton, where the highlights were Ringed Plovers, Sandwich Terns and Little Terns.
