We saw in the New Year in the city, so my first few year birds were uninspiring, but we did see some cormorants in the Inner Harbor and a Cooper's Hawk on Federal Hill (perhaps explaining the absence there of anything else).
In the afternoon, I went back to Fort Armistead to resee the Harlequin Duck for 2013 and then drive on with TC to Sandy Point State Park, right by the Bay bridge to look for Long-tailed Duck. A life bird, of which there will be far fewer this year, they didn't disappoint either in appearing or appearance, and we also picked up a few other ducks, including both Scaup, Ruddy Ducks and Goldeneye.
A pleasure to have you, as always. Glad the Oldsquaw ("Long-tailed Duck" is so generic) were cooperative.
