Catch-up

The apartment view has turned up a few good year birds, including Black and Surf Scoters a long way out after the storm, a fly-by Osprey, and a Horned Grebe from the dock.  Plus some friendly Brown Pelicans.

 

Pea Island has served up the best new bird, life Long-billed Dowitchers,

...as well as year Snowy Egrets,

...year Northern Harriers, a young Bald Eagle and great looks at a White Ibis, which I was surprised to see is little bigger than a Herring Gull. The beach gave good comparisons of Sanderling, Dunlin and Black-bellied Plovers.
Jockey's Ridge today turned up three Least Sandpipers, showing just how small they are, just out-sizing a Yellow-rumped Warbler.
