Gwynn Falls Trail (+13)

Quick nip out after work - rather colder than I was expecting. The water level was high (presumably a combination of tide and yesterday's rain). Very few birds in evidence, but there was a close-knit raft of about 30 coots, which I've never seen before. White-throated sparrows, robin, downy woodpecker, mallards, canada geese, but really not many birds on show. Then just before I gave up, I saw a Pied-billed Grebe, Bird 83.
I should note that I have new binoculars that are amazing. I took them to Patterson Park this morning and they were particularly good not just to identify a kestrel, but to see all the details on its chest. Also saw: mallards; wigeon; red-winged blackbirds; robins; starlings; mourning doves.
