Lunchtime excursion by bike to Patterson Park. Cool, rather than cold, and sunny. Merlin seen in tree just above the old Casino (!). Larger Hawk seen and followed - book needed for return. Sapsucker identified by red above and below beak.
I am liking a rough-legged hawk on the size (larger than a crow) and length of tail (longish), but that is a stretch. Might go back to tomorrow to see if it's a fixture.
